Treatments to aid Fertility and support Pregnancy

Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been used for many centuries to improve overall well-being, and a healthier body has a greater chance of conceiving naturally. As well as improving general health, acupuncture can be used to treat specific conditions which affect fertility.

Nutrition
Nutritional Therapists do not claim to ‘diagnose’ or ‘treat’ disease or illness. However, we can closely guide you towards optimising your health in a whole host of areas, not just fertility. But how can nutritional therapy help with becoming pregnant?

Chinese Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine is one of the most sophisticated herbal medicine systems in the world. Although CHM is relatively unknown in the West, it is practised extensively in clinics and hospitals throughout China and Korea.

Treatments to aid Fertility
Acupuncture

Infertility can alter nearly every aspect of a person's life. Few situations in life are as challenging and overwhelming. The emotional aspects of infertility often go ignored and untreated, and because it is such a private issue, many couples do not share their experiences which can add to the problem. At Unity Fertility we offer a safe an neutral place to discuss emotions and help with healing.
Acupuncture for Women
During consultations focused on fertility you can expect to discuss how you're currently feeling and be guided on measuring things like cervical mucas, basel base temperature and stress levels.
Some of the related fertility issues that we support and treat include:
Acupuncture for Men
It really does take two to make a baby, and the men that visit the clinic are supported in their individual journeys.
It's strongly recommended that you look into your own part of the fertility process by having a sperm test so that we can ensure we are tailoring our treatments to you.
If you suffer from stress, aches and pains please mention this in your treatment. Quite often, as acupuncture balances the body, other symptoms you may currently be experiencing can disappear.
To achieve pregnancy, men need strong kidney energy - this supports both sexual and reproductive health.
You can expect your treatment to include a discussion on how you're feeling (particularly stress-wise) and then lie on your tummy to receive acupuncture and application of the chinese herb, moxabustion to support your system to focus on and re-balance your kidney energy.
Acupuncture can help with:
Acupuncture for Both
The clinic offers some treatments that can benefit either men or women, so we've grouped them below for ease of reference.
Nutrition
Nutritional Therapists do not claim to ‘diagnose’ or ‘treat’ disease or illness. However, we can closely guide you towards optimising your health in a whole host of areas, not just fertility. But how can nutritional therapy help with becoming pregnant?
Although the reasons behind today’s high levels of infertility and miscarriage are largely unknown; there are so many factors which can be addressed to give you and your partner the best chances of conceiving a healthy baby.
In today's modern world we could be constantly exposed to a cocktail of hormone disruptors, and our bodies, which are very sensitive to these pollutants, may decide to shut down - this may be a factor in ‘unexplained fertility’.
The other factor is poor sperm health which can be a result of the food choices we make. Fortunately men take only 70 days to make a sperm, so any dietary imbalances can be corrected relatively quickly. Selenium and zinc are key nutrients which have been found to be very low in sub-fertile men.
Stress, weight management, (both over and underweight), and methylation problems for genetic reasons are just some of the other possible areas of investigation if you are struggling to conceive.
Everyone is different – and during a nutritional therapy session with me I will investigate the many possible reasons for infertility and come up with an individualised plan tailor made to you and your partner.
Chinese Medicine
Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is one of the most sophisticated herbal medicine systems in the world. Although CHM is relatively unknown in the West, compared to acupuncture, it is, in fact, regarded as the main part of the Chinese medicine and practised extensively in clinics and hospitals throughout China and Korea, alongside Western medicine.
Like acupuncture, CHM assesses and treats each person as a unique individual rather than being based entirely on a disease or its symptoms. Healing with CHM is based on the restoration of harmony and balance within the body.
Considerable research into many aspects of CHM has been conducted in China and the West, proving its efficacy and merit, especially for promoting fertility both for male and female including low sperm count, endometriosis, PMS (pre-menstrual syndrome), painful and heavy period. In Korea and China, CHM is extensively used alongside to IVF/ IUI protocols.
Chinese herbs are normally prescribed alongside acupuncture. After a thorough diagnosis, each person is prescribed an individual formula (typically 10-15 ingredients) correlating to that individual's pattern of internal disharmony.
- Formulas are crafted together to act synergistically and every ingredient is designed to accomplish a part of the overall process of restoring balance
- On return visits, the herbal formula is adjusted or modified as the patient's condition improves.
- Decoctions, powders, pills, syrups and medicinal wines are all ways to administer Chinese herbs.

Mo took the time to talk through my situation and feelings in an accepting and compassionate way.
She was genuine and accepting - which I really needed.
I completely believe that acupuncture has helped my pregnancy progress smoothly
Who would have thought having needles stuck in you could have such a wonderful, positive effect
I cannot recommend Mo highly enough. She's compassionate, kind helpful, professional and has a wealth of experience
She is the lady to see pre/during and post pregnancy. A true acupuncture gem.
I can truly say that without Mo’s help I’m sure we would have never got here on our own.
We had looked at going down the IVF route and luckily due to Mo we didn’t need to.
